Almanity Hoi An Resort & Spa is committed to enhancing the well-being of our guests while preserving the natural environment we cherish. We continually strive to ensure that our efforts positively influence both the people we serve and the beautiful surroundings that define our resort.
We are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and to protecting and supporting biodiversity. As part of that commitment, in 2024 we set ourselves a target in energy, water, waste reduction as follows:
- Reduce Total Electricity Consumption by 10% Over Five Years (2024 – 2029)
- Increase Use of Renewable Energy from 10% to 20% of Total Energy Consumption by 2029:
- Reduce Water Usage per Guest / Night by 5% – 10% within 5 years (by 2029)
- Achieve 100% Use of Water-Efficient Landscaping by 2026
- Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 5% – 10% by 2029
We are pleased to report that as of 31st July 2024, we have made the following progress:
- Total energy consumption increased slightly by 0.16%. While this shows a minor rise, we are continuing to implement energy-saving measures to meet our long-term target.
- Water consumption overall has increased by 8.25%. This reflects the challenges we face in managing water resources. However, we remain committed to achieving our water usage reduction targets by focusing on efficiency improvements and education.
- Solid waste generation increased by 6.9%. In contrast, our efforts to reduce waste have shown success in other areas, with a 19.76% reduction in single-use plastics purchased, demonstrating significant progress toward minimizing waste.
- High emission food purchased (kg) has decreased by 4.4%, while high emission food purchased (liters) has significantly dropped by 77.54%. These reductions are a critical part of our strategy to lower our overall carbon footprint.
- Environmentally hazardous substances saw a substantial reduction, with 38.59% less in hazardous substances (kg) and 17.43% less in hazardous substances (liters), underscoring our commitment to safer operations and biodiversity protection.
- Average emissions per guest night have decreased by 3.6% (from 17.51 kg CO₂e in 2023 to 16.88 kg CO₂e in 2024), reflecting our ongoing efforts to optimize resource efficiency and reduce our environmental impact per guest.
We know that there is more work to for us to do and in the rest of 2024 and 2025 we are implementing a number of new initiatives throughout our operation to help us achieve our 2029 goal (Please refer to our SPECIFIC GOALS OF SUSTAINABILITY and SUSTAINABILITY ACTION PLAN 2024 – 2025). We encourage our valued guests, staff and suppliers to support us by following the reminders we have provided throughout the hotel about saving water and energy, as well as minimizing waste.
We are proud of the fundraising activities our staff carried out to achieve our goal of donating 20,000,000 VND to support underprivileged children at Long Chau Pagoda during our 2023 Christmas Lighting Event. This initiative showed our support to the local community and brought joy to children in need. Thanks to the generous contributions from our guests and the dedication of our staff, we were able to make a meaningful impact.
In 2024, our focus will be on continuing this commitment by contributing at least 10,000,000 VND of our profits to local community development projects. We also plan to partner with local schools and organizations to promote education and cultural heritage, and we will host community events and workshops focused on sustainability and environmental awareness.
If you would like to learn more about our community projects or would like to donate, please visit the reception counter for further information.
