In a modern world full of constant motion and consumer noise, a peaceful sanctuary can be all we need to return to stillness within. But at Almanity Hoi An Resort & Spa, we aspire to offer more than that. We believe a holiday is not just a pause for rest, but an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with nature, listen to your body, and begin embracing a more mindful and compassionate way of living, both for yourself and for the planet. For us, sustainability is not a passing trend or a marketing strategy. It is a philosophy, a long-term commitment nurtured by a collective of individuals who share one common belief: that true luxury must be in harmony with nature, and that elegance must be accompanied by responsibility.
From the very beginning, Almanity chose a different path. Rather than chasing after superficial glamour, we focused on curating authentic, quality experiences where every detail is designed with deep respect for both people and the environment. As guests wander through the resort, they encounter not just tranquil gardens and harmonious architecture, but also feel a subtle and sincere atmosphere of sustainability. We believe sustainability should never be imposed. Instead, it should be gently awakened so that everyone who visits feels they are not only resting, but living more mindfully, more peacefully, and more purposefully.
Over the past year, from May 2024 to April 2025, our sustainability efforts were translated into real, inspiring results. Our total electricity consumption decreased by nearly 16%, saving over 310,000 kWh thanks to improved energy systems, smarter operations, and stronger awareness among both staff and guests. Our carbon footprint also saw a significant drop over 15% with direct emissions from fossil fuels reduced by almost 40%. This marked a meaningful shift toward cleaner energy and greener operational practices.
One of our most impactful milestones was the 76% reduction in single-use plastic. This wasn’t a surface-level change, it was a complete transformation in how we choose materials, design guest experiences, and communicate our values. Plastic water bottles were replaced with glass carafes, plastic packaging gave way to paper, bamboo, and fabric, and unnecessary items were eliminated from rooms. All of this contributes to a resort space that is not only physically “clean,” but also emotionally and intellectually mindful.
Sustainability at Almanity also extends deeply into our culinary philosophy. Without being rigid or extreme, we’ve “greened” our menu in a way that honors balance and natural nourishment. Meat and fish consumption was significantly reduced by 34.7% and 58.6%, respectively while we expanded our offerings of plant-based, seasonal, and locally sourced ingredients. Every meal now carries not just flavor, but a quiet message about conscious, holistic consumption. Moreover, organic waste was meticulously separated at source and composted, with processed volume doubling year-over-year. The resulting natural fertilizer nurtures our gardens and vegetable patches, building a closed-loop, circular ecosystem within the resort.
Yet what makes us most proud is not these numbers themselves, but the culture and transformation behind them. These results came not from top-down mandates, but from genuine shifts in mindset, behavior, and shared values among our team and our guests alike. Every staff member at Almanity is a quiet ambassador of green living. A glass bottle in your room, a gentle explanation about why the lights weren’t pre-switched on, a warm smile when you ask about a plant-based dish these are subtle gestures that carry great resonance. Because for us, sustainability is not a formula, it is a way of life, built from everyday intention and care.
Looking ahead, our journey is far from over. We are committed to reducing non-recyclable waste even further, closely monitoring per-guest water usage, upholding green standards across our supply chain, investing in internal training, and encouraging each department to propose eco-initiatives as part of our organizational culture. Beyond the internal systems, we also aim to create more opportunities for guests to participate naturally and meaningfully in this journey through planting trees, joining garden care activities, experiencing green cuisine, morning meditation, or exploring Hoi An via non-emission cycling tours.
We believe that an ideal resort does more than care for your physical comfort, it nurtures your emotions, elevates your awareness, and gently inspires you to live more beautifully. And if you, like so many of our guests are seeking a deeper kind of vacation, one where you're not just pampered by luxury but awakened by purpose, where you live a little slower, a little greener, a little more soulfully, then Almanity Hoi An Resort & Spa is exactly where that journey begins. Naturally. Gently. Meaningfully.
